Yesterday was a very busy day for me, rushing out some paperworks to beat a week’s dateline. I’m so busy not paying attention for my first ever pet my friend gave to me when I resigned from the office.
I didn’t know that my dog is pregnant. Perhaps, impregnated one day when she was tied outside to poop.
Anyways, that morning, my dog was so noisy in her doghouse, nipping the bed in front of her. I thought she just want to go outside for a walk or to do some shit. So, I leave for awhile my laptop to attend to my dog’s need. After, I continue working.
Still, my dog makes noises. I stand up again to check her and I saw what she did in the bed. She destroyed the corner side of it and I became curious what is going on and what she is up to. I moved the bed slightly and see a puppy!
Oh my! My dog gave birth and I was really surprised for I didn’t know the pregnancy. What I thought is, she just gain pounds.(That’s how stupid I am. Lol).
She was my first pet and even I’m giving her a bath, I was not aware of her bulging tummy. Shock, I picked up the puppy and put it in front of her mom. My dog was so happy then, wagging her tail but sad, after minutes, I’m expecting her to feed her pup. She just licks and licks the pup and when I decided to touch her baby, she growled at me. Oh no, what a big problem! How can I save her pup from hunger?
I decided to buy a dropper to give the pup a milk.
Since I cannot touch her baby, I tied again my dog outside our garage. Then only I was able to feed the pup. I was not able to concentrate working for I’m so worried about the baby. I went outside to check the two. When my dog sees me, she barks and barks at me. She picks up her pup and changes a back position. She guarded her pup, sitting beside it. I tried to give my dog a food so if she eats, I can check if she has milk. She has but like me, she doesn’t know how to take care a pup. Evening comes and before retiring to bed, I prayed for the survival of the little pup, hoping that once it get hungry, her mom feed her.
I was so happy when morning come, the little puppy is still alive. Every morning, it’s a routine for my dog to walk and poop outside. It’s her habit not to poop or pee around her place. If she wants to poop or pee, she will get your attention by barking or to whimper. I gave the little pup a drop of milk. Though alive, she’s not sucking the dropper unlike the first time I gave her milk. The pup made a short cry; at last, I heard her voice. I lay her down in the small quilted mat; see to it that I wipe her mouth over the spilled milk I gave her. After, I started working.
Two and half-hours past (I know well because I have a timer when I’m logging to my virtual office, an online and home-based office), I heard my dog barking and again, I checked her. I saw my dog pushing her head on her pup, then, scratched her feet to the pup and picked her up by her fangs throwing her in the mat I provided, the pup is not moving, she’s dead………
I get my dog, planning to tie her outside; she picks her pup by mouth and I told her not to bring it outside. I shouted at her to put down the pup but she didn’t obey. I need to spunk her head with my hand so she will drop the pup. I wrapped her and bury outside in the vacant space near our garage and put some big stones in the soil. Her mom, like any other human mom was so sad. She doesn’t make any noise, she just lay flat in her mat, not moving, and she only stares at me wagging slowly her tail. I want to embrace my dog to comfort her. I put her head in my two hands and said…… Your pup died because you don’t know how to feed her and I didn’t know too how to take care a little pup…….
We both went outside and I’m surprised, my dog knows where I bury her pup. She sniffed and sniffed, stopped and bark at the tomb.
To anyone who will read this short story, please, leave some note so the next time my dog gets pregnant, I know how I will take care a new born pup especially how to feed it.
Thanks!
